This week’s Monday Night Raw in San Jose gave a tough young fan a chance to live his dream of being a WWE Superstar.Eight-year-old Elijah Mainville, who was diagnosed with neuroblastoma at a young age, caught the eye of the WWE when he submitted a video for WWE Tough Enough a few months ago.
He signed a contract and took on the name “Drax Shadow.” To go with his new name, the youngster told the crowd, “Don’t fear the darkness, fear the Shadow.”
Tough enough indeed, as WWE sent him a heart-warming video with Triple H and Stephanie McMahon inviting him into the ring for the August 3 episode of Raw in San Jose, California.
Aside from meeting his favorite WWE Superstar Star Dust, Elijah also signed his contract as the newest WWE superstar himself, using his legit screen name, Drax Shadow.
“Don’t fear the darkness, fear the shadow!” The youngest WWE member growled on the microphone.
With millions of fans worldwide, it has been a part of the World Wrestling Entertainment’s responsibility to be concerned with their younger fans. Aside from always reminding viewers, “Don’t try this at home,” superstars would also point out that the live action is just for pure entertainment.
Last January on Raw, WWE COO and thirteen-time world champion Triple H broke his evil character to console a young boy who was crying while watching John Cena beaten up in a handicap match against Seth Rollins, Kane, and Big Show.
After the show, Triple H lit up the young boy’s mood by inviting him and his father to meet his favorite superstars backstage. Triple H’s real-life wife and WWE’s wicked boss, Stephanie McMahon was nice enough to talk to the little boy too.
