What Is Cancer?

While a number of different combinations have been suggested, the National Cancer Institute most supports acupuncture and other traditional Chinese medicine approaches, mind-body methods, and nutritional methods. At present, these options have the greatest amount of support.

1. Acupuncture
A recent study published in the Hematology/Oncology Clinics of North America as The Value of Acupuncture in Cancer Care reports that this treatment helps cancer patients deal with the side effects of traditional cancer treatment. Symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, post-operative pain, and cancer related pain are reduced when this method is implemented with treatment.
2. Aromatherapy
There is even research to suggest that aromatherapy and other mind-body techniques support treatment. Essential oils such as Roman chamomile, geranium, lavender, and cedarwood help relieve the symptoms of cancer treatment as well as elevate the individual’s mood and emotions, enabling him or her to better fight the condition.
3. Dietary Changes
A number of trials have been and are being conducted to determine the efficacy of nutritional methods. Among those trials is a study on the effects of selected vegetable and herb mix on lung cancer. The idea of this treatment is that nutrients better fortify the body to be able to fight off the condition and associated symptoms.
