Cancer Patient Undergoes Lumpectomy and IORT

In this video depicting an actual surgical treatment, Dr. Maen Farha, clinical director of the MedStar Union Memorial Hospital breast center in Baltimore, will eliminate a malignant growth and also surrounding tissue from a client’s bust. Intraoperative radiation therapy, or IORT, is then utilized during the surgery to treat the cells that surrounded the growth with a high dose of radiation.
